Charles A. ‘Tut’ Raffle
Charles A. “Tut” Raffle, 83, of Uniontown, Pa., died on Tuesday, August 1, 2006, in the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa. He was born on January 9, 1923, in Uniontown, Pa., the son of William Henry Raffle, Sr., a former Fire Chief for Uniontown Fire Department and Anna Barbara (Chocola) Raffle.
His parents, wife, Frances Elizabeth (Gismondi) Raffle, brothers: William Henry Raffle, Jr. and Frank Kenneth Raffle and a sister, Mary Barbara Nabors, preceded him in death.
Charles was a graduate of Uniontown High School, Class of 1941 and was a fire fighter with the Uniontown Fire Department prior to serving with the Federal Fire Fighters in Greenland, the South Pacific, the United States Pentagon, Pucks River Station and retired from Andrew Air Force Base, where he was a member of the Crash and Disaster Crew.
A strong sense of duty, honor and proud commitment to his service as a fire fighter, Charles was also personable and easy to get along with. He had no enemies because he never made any.
Left to cherish his memory is his sister, JoAnn Dearth of Fairchance, Pa.; two step-daughters: Barbara Misiak and husband, Kenneth and Phyllis Casurole and husband, Carl all of Uniontown; A Step-son, Lloyd Howard of Baltimore, Maryland; three step-granddaughters, Jamie Lynn Misiak of Uniontown, Bridget Louise Duncan of Ridgeland, South Carolina and Susie Rose of Orlando, Florida; a step-grandson, Casey Adam Duncan of Masontown, Pa.; four step-great-grandchildren: Morgan Elizabeth Rizer and Chloe Renee Rizer both of Ridgeland, South Carolina and Arielle Rose and Roger Rose both of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and a step-great-great-grandson, Brandon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME, INC., A Dignity Memorial Provider, 603 North Gallatin Avenue Extension, Uniontown, Pa., today from 2 to 8 p.m. and on Friday, August 4, 2006, from 10 to 11 a.m. the hour of Service with the Rev. William Rodahaver officiating.
Interment will be held in Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
Memorial donations to the Uniontown Fireman’s Memorial in his memory would be appreciated and can be made at the Uniontown Fire Department. Donation envelopes will also be available in the funeral home.
The Uniontown Fire Department will hold Vigil this evening at 7:30 p.m.
