Circus a huge hit at the fair
New to the Fayette County Fair this year, the Alain Zerbini Circus has something for everyone. “I liked the dogs,” said Kameron Scott, 10, of Mapletown. “I liked the one who jumped 12 feet.”
I really liked the aerial artistry part with the guy and the girl,” said Kristina Scott, 17, of Mapletown. “It was amazing. I couldn’t do it. It takes a lot of talent to do something like that.”
Starting off the show, jugglers entered the circle with vibrant costumes and smiles on their faces, ready to give the crowd a show.
Juggling hats, balls, rings and batons, the jugglers take turns and even switch from person to person while still juggling. One of them succeeded in juggling six balls at the same time.
The next act involved man’s best friends. Dogs, large and small, contributed to the cute and furry fun.
Dalmatians jumped through hoops and over hurtles, and then proceeded to hop over each other all around the ring.
A miniature collie walked in between the ringleader’s legs, while other dogs went up and down a slide, sometimes backwards.
From 12 feet in the air, a small dog jumped all by himself into the ringleader’s arms, but that was not the last of the doggy tricks.
Dancing around the ring, one of the dogs wore a dress while hopping on two legs.
After the dogs were applauded for their performance, the aerial artists entered the arena.
Images in white, the man and woman duo performed acrobatics in the air, high above the crowd.
Strength and much practice came into play as the man held the woman up in the air with only his feet. They then proceeded to tumble and turn throughout the air with the greatest of ease, wowing the crowd with each new pose.
A brief hysterical interlude came next. Clowns entertained with musical talents and slap-stick comedy.
An acrobatic duo followed, as they formed slightly contortionist poses and showed amazing strength throughout their performance.
Balancing high-wire acts were not absent in the circus. Juggling batons and fire, the crowd looked on in awe and astonishment.
Last but not least came the Wheel of Destiny. Jump-roping, running, hopping, and even walking blind-folded on the high turning wheel, the dare devil shocked as the crowd stared on, immediately stunned.
The circus is held at 5:15 and 7:15 pm daily with an extra show added at 3:15 pm on Saturday.
