Perryopolis house burns

1 min read

Emergency crews are saying a candle is to blame for a fire that destroyed a Perryopolis residence Thursday afternoon. Perry Township Fire Department Chief Barry Lynch said the fire was primarily contained to the bedroom of the Liberty Street residence; however, the entire house sustained smoke and water damage. Lynch said a mother and daughter were in the house when the fire erupted around 12:30 p.m., but that no one was injured. Lynch said fire crews were able to knock the fire down quickly, but that the majority of damage was already done. In addition to Perry, fire departments from Fayette City and DL&V also responded, as did Perry EMS.
