Paul J. Stepanik (Stefanik), 78, of Akron, Ohio and formerly of Smock, Pa., died on Wednesday, August 9, 2006, in the Akron City Hospital. He was born on July 25, 1928, and raised in Smock, Pa., son of the late John and Mary Stepanik.

He resided in Stow, Ohio until his retirement from the Chrysler Corporation. He also was a former resident of Roscoe, Pa.

Mr. Stepanik was a veteran of the Korean War and a former member of the Uniontown V.F.W.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Stepanik; two sisters, Catherine Rebar and Ann Ellis, brother, John Stepanik

He is survived by three children: Mark Stefanik of Akron, Ohio, Stephanie Knight and her husband, Jim of Stow, Ohio, Chris Giovanardi of Stow, Ohio; four grandchildren: Attorney Aubrie Knight of Cleveland, Ohio, Jin Knight of Stow, Ohio, Jeremy Giovanardi of California, Pa., Maria Giovanardi of California, Pa.; two great-grandchildren; brother, Stephen Stepanik and his wife, Pauline of Greenville, Pa.; sister, Mary Marcozzi and her husband, Marvin of Uniontown, Pa.; also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends will be received in the SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME, 680 Cherry Tree Lane Uniontown, Pa., on Friday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday where a blessing service will be held in the funeral home at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Father John Sedlak officiating.

Interment will follow in Saint Hedwig’s Cemetery, Smock, Pa., where full military rites will be accorded by the Hopwood AMVETS Post 103.
