Helen Turjanica Zayakosky
Helen Turjanica Zayakosky, age 82, of Star Junction, Pa., passed away Saturday, August 12, 2006, in the home of her beloved daughter, Mary Rathway. She was born January 27, 1924, in Perryopolis, Pa. Helen was the daughter of John Turjanica and Mary Baka Turjanica.
Helen was a member of Saint Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church and its Altar Society.
She was the co-owner with her late husband, Frank, of Zack’s Restaurant on Route 51 in Perryopolis, Pa.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents and by her beloved husband, Frank Zayakosky.
She is survived by two beloved daughters: Mrs. Mary Rathway and her husband, John Rathway Jr., of Perryopolis, Pa., and Mrs. Helen Backos and her husband, Edward Backos Sr., of Chagrin Falls, Ohio.
Helen had four beloved grandchildren: John Rathway III, Frank Rathway, Dana Rathway Rendina and Edward Backos Jr.; and ten beloved great-grandchildren: Brittany Rathway, Bria Rathway, Jacob Rathway, Aleesha Rathway, Vincent Rathway, Angelina Rendina, Robert Rendina, Giovanni Rendina, Zachary Backos and Julia Backos. Helen had three beloved brothers and four sisters: John Turjonis and his wife Elizabeth, Michael Turjanica and his wife Lillian, Joseph Turjanica, Mrs. Mary Olinik, Mrs. Anna VanSuch, Mrs. Irene Brienz and her husband Edward and Mrs. Margaret Zigarevich and her husband William all of Ohio. Helen had numerous nieces and nephews that will miss her dearly.
Friends will be received in the BLAIR-LOWTHER FUNERAL HOME INC., 106 East Independence Street, Perryopolis, Pa., today from Noon to 9 p.m. where a Panachida Service will be held Tuesday, August 15, at 1 p.m.
Funeral Liturgy follows at 1:30 p.m. in Saint Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, Perryopolis, Pa. The Rev. Father Robert Halus will be the Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Saint Nicholas Byzantine Cemetery.
Parastas Service will be held in the Funeral Home this evening at 7 p.m.
