Richard B. Dowler
Richard B. “Dick” Dowler, age 86, of Coal Center, Pa., died Thursday, August 10, 2006. He was born May 28, 1920, in Coal Center, Pa., the son of Richard Dowler and Elizabeth (Walker) Dowler.
“Dick” served on the California Area School Board for 18 years and was the past President of the Coal Center Borough Council.
He was also an avid Pittsburgh sports fan of the Steelers, Pirates and Penguins, and he loved to garden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Frank Dowler, and one sister in infancy, Christine Dowler.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Wanda Bilitski Dowler; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Carmen Dowler of Flat Top, West Virginia; and daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and Larry Neiderhiser of Spencer, Iowa. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Heather Gesner and her husband Josh, Bryan Dowler, Katya Dowler, Douglas Neiderhiser, Kelly Neiderhiser and Matthew Neiderhiser.
Friends will be received in the COAL CENTER PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH on Tuesday, August 15, 2006, for a Memorial Visitation from 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Memorial Funeral Services will begin at 6:30 p.m. with Dr. Harry Langley officiating.
