Music, contests highlight Bullskin fair
BULLSKIN TWP. – The truck pulling contest and Nashville recording artist Kortney Jean Zufall were the main attractions at the Bullskin Township Community Fair and Farm Products Show Monday evening. A record crowd was on hand to hear Zufall sing several of her newest compact disc releases on the outside stage while monster and street trucks lined up inside the arena for the weight pulling contest.
Twelve-year-old Zufall said she enjoys performing at the local fair, year after year.
“I’ve been to Nashville three times and I have two CDs out now,” she said. “On the first CD, I have five songs and on the second CD, I have seven songs.”
Zufall, who will be in the seventh grade at Connellsville Junior High East in the fall, said she likes two songs in particular – “Boys” and “Cowboy Sweetheart,” but she admitted that she really likes all of them.
Zufall had a fan base waiting for her as she and her band exited the state to take a short break from the music and the crowd at about 8:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, prize money per class for competition was paid out as follows: 1st place, $100; 2nd place, $75; 3rd place, $50; and 4th place, $25.

Bob Grimm of Connellsville said he has been competing in truck pulls for about 15 years and he loves it.
“It’s an expensive hobby but I love it,” said Grimm. “I couldn’t tell you how much I have wrapped up in the truck, but I work on it continually to keep it in good shape every year.”
Grimm said he thought that he did OK on Monday night, but he said he could have done better.
“If I would have had a little better track, I might have had a chance of winning,” he continued “but that’s the way it goes.”
Grimm said his twin brother would also race Monday night and he hoped that he would win.
