Bethel Park man dies in stabbing
A Bethel Park man was stabbed Monday night and later died after an argument with his ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend at a home in Union Township, Washington County. State police said Shawn Patrick Gildea, 36, was pronounced dead at 12:45 a.m. Tuesday at Jefferson Hospital in Jefferson Hills, Allegheny County.
The incident began when Gildea approached the 240 McChain Road home of his ex-girlfriend, Christine Limbers, 31, and her boyfriend, Berry James, 49, around 11 p.m. Monday.
Police said Gildea and Limbers argued at the front door of the home and then Limbers told Gildea to leave, and locked the door.
Sometime later, police said, Gildea pushed an air-conditioning unit through a window of the home to gain entry. Once inside, Gildea, Limbers and James argued and Gildea head-butted James, knocking him unconscious, police said.
According to police, the confrontation resumed after James regained consciousness, resulting in James stabbing Gildea in the chest. The altercation then moved to the outside of the home, where James stabbed Gildea several more times, police said.
After Gildea fell to the ground, James and Limbers ran to a neighbor’s home and called 911.
No charges have been filed in the case and police said an investigation would continue.
