John David Enany, 80, of Connellsville, Pa., passed away on August 17, 2006, in his residence. Born in Connellsville, Pa., on February 9, 1926, he was the son of the late Albert and Helen (Sweda) Enany.

His sister, Mildred Sohonage and a daughter, Susan Rene Enany preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Maryrene (Foley) Enany; his children: Catherine “Jinx” (Mrs. Michael) Babyak of Marietta, Georgia, Claire (Mrs. John) Leichliter of Roswell, Georgia, John Enany of Greensburg, Pa. and Dr. Albert Enany and his wife, Jody (May) of Connellsville; as well as a sister, Claire (Mrs. Thomas) Trimpey of Connellsville and a brother, James Edward Enany of San Jose, California. In addition, he leaves seven grandchildren: Emily (Mrs. Brian) Berner of Zebulon, Georgia; Kristy (Mrs. Byrd) Macdonald of Limerick, Pa., Maggie (Mrs. Nicholas) Dille of Killeen, Texas; Amelia Leichliter of Palm Bay, Florida and Christopher Enany, Justin Enany and Erinn Enany all of Connellsville; two great-grandchildren: Allison and Andrew Macdonald and his two devoted Weimaraners.

David owned and operated Connellsville Motor Sales, later Laurel Ford until his retirement in 1991 working in the business first with his father and later with his son, John.

He was a graduate of Connellsville High School, Class of 1943 where he was a member of the swim team and he was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy overseas in DREW 6. He went to Bremen, Germany with the British Army before the war ended, patrolling the Weber River from Bremen to Bremerhaven. He received a One Star European Theater Ribbon and American Theater Ribbon and a Victory medal.

He belonged to many local civic organizations including the Rotary Club, the Pennsylvania Economy League and was a lifetime member of the BPO Elks Lodge 503. He was also a member of the Connellsville V.F.W. Post 21. He especially enjoyed twice serving as president of the New Haven Hose Company also selling specials at their Thursday night bingo. He was chairman of the board of Connellsville State General Hospital through the transition from the state to the Forbes Hospital System.

An avid golfer, David was proud of scoring three holes in one at Pleasant Valley Country Club where he was a longtime member.

Friends will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 111 East Green Street, Connellsville, Pa. A Blessing Service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday in the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Connellsville, with the Rev. Dennis Bogusz officiating.

Committal Services and interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville, where Military Rites will be accorded by the Connellsville Veteran’s Association.

A Parish Wake Service will be held on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

The New Haven Hose Company will conduct a Memorial Service at 7 p.m. on Sunday and the BPO Elks Lodge 503 will conduct a Memorial Ritual at 7:30 p.m. both on Sunday in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church new roof fund, 908 West Crawford Avenue, Connellsville, Pa., in memory of John David Enany.
