Louis Wilson Apone, 89, of Charlotte, North Carolina, a longtime resident of Brownsville, Pa., and Bethel Park, Pa. died on Friday, August 18, 2006. He was a proprietor of Apone’s Tavern on Market Street, Brownsville, Pa., for many years and later he managed The Holiday Inn in Uniontown.

In between, he was a successful newspaper editor and insurance salesman.

He was a graduate of Brownsville High School and the University of Notre Dame and served in the United States Army during World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline Apone; brother, Carl Apone; sister, Amelia Apone; daughters: Jacqueline Apone, Jilda Apone, Cynthia Deermount and Karla Sebec; son, Thomas Apone; and several grandchildren.

He is also survived by his wife’s children: Vanessa Pappas, Abby Boyd, Jennifer Ewing and Azby Boyd and also by his wife’s grandchildren.

Friends will be received in the Skirpan Funeral Home, 135 Park Street, Brownsville, Pa., on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday until 9:30 a.m.
