Uniontown Human resources course announced
“The HR Tool Kit,’ a six-session course on the essentials of human resource management, will be held the first Wednesday of each month beginning in September and continuing through February 2007.
Tri-State Human Resources Management is presenting the classes.
The sessions are specially designed for business owners, employers, office managers and human resource professionals.
Sessions will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Laurel Business Institute, 11-15 Penn St., Uniontown.
Sessions topics by month will include:
– September: “Solving HR Challenges by Using the S.I.M.P.L.E. R.U.L.E.: Strategic Human Resources and Core Competencies.’
– October: “Aligning Your Compensation and Benefits Strategies with Organizational Goals.’
– November and December: “Everything You’ve Always Wanted to Know About Employment and Labor Law but Were Afraid to Ask – Part 1 and 2.
– January: “How to Find, Keep and Motivate Employees: Workforce Planning, Recruiting and Staffing.’
– February: “The Secrets of Successful Training and Performance Management.’
A fee will be charged.

Agency offers smoke-free program
Fayette County Community Action Agency Inc. has a Smoke-free Workplace Equals Employee Productivity initiative (SWEEP) designed to reduce workers’ exposure to the effects of second-hand smoke.
The program also encourages workers to stop smoking and educates employers on the benefits for their businesses from smoking cessation.
Benefits to the employer can include a reduction in direct health-care costs to the company and decrease facility and maintenance costs. The employer may also be able to negotiate lower health, life and disability insurance coverage as employee smoking is reduced.

Bank sets dividend
F.N.B. Corp. has approved a quarterly cash dividend on its common stock of 23.5 cents per share. The dividend is payable on Sept. 15 to shareholders of record as of the close of business on Sept. 1.
“This dividend continues F.N.B. Corporation’s commitment to a high-yielding cash dividend,” said Stephen Gurgovits, president and chief executive officer of F.N.B. Corp. “In fact, F.N.B. pays one of the highest dividend yields among bank holding companies our size in the United States,” he said.
