Marjorie C. Seifert

Marjorie C. Seifert, 88, of Hopwood, Pa., died Thursday, August 17, 2006, in the Uniontown Hospital. Born April 26, 1918, in Scottdale, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Carl H. and Katheryn Chisnell Culler.

A faithful and active member of the Hopwood United Methodist Church, she had graduated from the West Newton High School and Penn State University and trained to become a licensed physical therapist at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Marge originally work for the Easter Seals Society and later joined the Intermediate Unit working with the handicapped children of the county. During this time, she was instrumental in organizing the West Leisenring School for the Handicapped.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Scottdale Chapter 383, the Fayette County Retired Teachers Association and since 1984, an active member of the Friendship Hill Association, during which time she has continuously held offices or served on the Board of Directors.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Seifert Tomasek and her husband, James R. Tomasek, Jr. of Hopwood, Pa.; a nephew, Dr. Robert H. Gedekoh of Elizabeth, Pa.; four nieces: Patricia J. Evey of Bethel Park, Pa., Nancy K. Behrens of Victor, New York, Barbara C. Robinson of Prescott, Arizona and Carla C. Mattos of Livermore, California; and by many friends who will long remember her quick wit and love of life.

Predeceased is her husband, Harold M. Seifert on May 21, 2002, a brother, William H. Culler and a sister, Ruth C. McGavern.

Friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, HOPWOOD, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Monday in the HOPWOOD UNITED METHODIST CHURCH from 9 to 10 a.m., the hour of Service with the Rev. Randy Costolo officiating.

Interment services will be in West Newton Cemetery, West Newton, Pa. on Tuesday at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to the Organ Fund of the Hopwood United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 47, Hopwood, Pa., 15445.
