Louis Wilson Apone
Louis Wilson Apone, beloved Son, Brother, Husband, Father and Grandfather, died on Friday morning, August 18, 2006, in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was 89 years old. Mr. Apone, a longtime resident of Brownsville and Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, had a long and varied career.
He was the proprietor of Apone’s Tavern on Market Street in Brownsville for many years and later he managed The Holiday Inn in Uniontown, Pennsylvania. In between, he was a successful newspaper editor and insurance salesman.
He graduated from Brownsville High School and the University of Notre Dame and served in the United States Army during World War II.
He is survived by his Wife, Pauline Apone; Brother, Carl Apone, Pittsburgh, Pa.; Sister, Amelia Apone, Brownsville, Pa.; four Daughters: Jacqueline Apone, Pittsburgh, Pa., Jilda Apone, Virginia, Cynthia Deermount and her husband John, Upper Montclair, New Jersey, and Karla Sabec and her husband Frank, Farmington, Pa.; one Son, Thomas Apone and his wife Arlene, Sharon, Massachusetts; and several Grandchildren.
Mr. Apone is also survived by his Wife’s Children, Vanessa Pappas, Abby Boyd, Jennifer Ewing and Azby Boyd, and also by his Wife’s Grandchildren.
Friends will be received in the SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME, 135 Park Street, Brownsville, Pennsylvania, today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. where a Prayer Service will be held on Tuesday, August 22, at 9:30 a.m.
A Funeral Mass follows at 10 a.m. in The Historic Church of Saint Peter in Brownsville with the Rev. Father Vincent Gigliotti as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Redstone Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in Mr. Apone’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association or to your favorite charity.
