Woman arrested in robbery case

By Josh Krysak 2 min read

A 35-year-old Connellsville woman who allegedly robbed an elderly North Union Township couple Friday was taken into custody at a Scottdale home Tuesday after a warrant for her arrest was issued. Cherry Lee Marsh of Apartment 3, 617 Vanderbilt Road, was discovered in a home on Franklin Street Tuesday and was taken into police custody without incident.

Magisterial District Judge Wendy Dennis charged Marsh with four counts each of forgery and theft by deception and access device fraud as well as one count of theft following the incident.

According to trooper James Pierce, Marsh knocked on the front door of a home owned by James and Sarah Aultz at 117 Edison Boulevard around 7:30 a.m., awakening the elderly couple.

Pierce said the 84-year-old man opened the door for Marsh, who told Aultz that her car overheated and that she needed a gallon of water for the radiator, Pierce said.

While Aultz retrieved water for Marsh from the kitchen of the home, Marsh allegedly sneaked into the house and stole a purse owned by Sarah Aultz. The purse contained cash and a debit card, Pierce said.

After Aultz gave Marsh two gallons of water, police said she left the scene with a man with a medium build in a white 1992 Mercury Topaz.

Following the theft, unauthorized transactions totaling more than $600 had been made throughout the day four area stores, police said.

Marsh is being held in the Fayette County Prison in a $25,000 percentage bond.
