New Salem church opening gown shop
Formality in a church usually comes in the form of prayer, but the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church in New Salem introduces another aspect of formality that has nothing to do with spirituality. The church will begin a new business called New Salem Gowns that will sell formal and semi-formal gowns for dances, homecoming events and proms.
Hundreds of gowns are available in a variety of styles, sizes and colors. Shoes and jewelry to complement all of the gowns, along with alterations to the dresses, also are offered through the new boutique. The gowns are priced at $99 and up.
Natalia Zavodchikov, owner of Babette’s in Bridgeville, is a member of the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church and has donated her time and talent to organize the nonprofit organization’s fund-raiser using the dresses from her shop. The money will go to the church.
The new store will hold its grand opening from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2. Expected to be open year-round, the hours of operation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. The shop also will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays. Appointments are welcomed.
New Salem Gowns is located at 91 S. Mill St., behind the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church.
