Hearing for local man and woman delayed
CONNELLSVILLE – A scheduled Thursday preliminary hearing for a Connellsville man and woman charged with allegedly robbing a local grocery store was delayed at the request of defense counsel. Seth James Annis, 20, and Lindsey Renea Weimer, 21, both of 917 Sycamore St., are similarly charged by city police with robbery, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and criminal conspiracy in connection with the Aug. 28 robbery of the Pechin Express Store.
According to the criminal complaint filed with the office of Magisterial District Judge Ronald Haggerty, Annis allegedly entered the North Pittsburgh Street store at about 10:40 p.m. and asked an employee to redeem a winning ticket.
The employee at the time, said police, had $237 in daily lottery proceeds in her hand and as she put the money aside to wait on Annis, he allegedly reached across the counter and took the money.
Police said the employee attempted to apprehend Annis, but he ran out of the store and got into a white van being driven by a female.
The store employees later identified Annis during a lineup. Weimer, said police, is allegedly his girlfriend.
The rescheduled preliminary hearing is set for Dec. 14.
