Norma Ruth Newcomer, R.N.
Norma Ruth Newcomer, R.N., 72, of Saxonburg, Pa., formerly of Butler, Pa., died Thursday, November 30, 2006, in Saxony Health Center after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born Saturday, December 30, 1933, in Dunbar, Pa., the daughter of the late James Isaac Bryner and the late Thelma Ruth Smitley Bryner.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church and a resident of Saxony for six years. She enjoyed cross-stitching, needlework, doing crafts, reading and doing crossword puzzles.
She graduated from Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing and had worked as an R.N. for Torrence Hospital in Blairsville, Pa. and for Butler Memorial Hospital. She also worked for Butler Physical Therapy Associates as an office manager.
Surviving are her husband R. Dale Newcomer of Butler, Pa., whom she married on November 23, 1954; two daughters: Mrs. John (Joyce) Grooms of Stuart, Virginia and Mrs. Daniel (Karen) Graham of Butler; a son, Roger and Paula Newcomer of Slippery Rock, Pa.; six granddaughters: Mrs. Matthew (Rebecca) Corley of Roanoke, Virginia, Melanie Grooms of Virginia, Jennifer and Emily Graham of Butler and Amanda and Sara Newcomer of Slippery Rock; and a brother, Richard Bryner of Arizona.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Frederick Bryner.
Friends will be received from noon to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, December 3, 2006, in the YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, LTD., BUTLER, Pa. Services will be held in the funeral home on Monday, December 4, 2006, at 11 a.m. with her pastor, the Rev. Dave Maitland, officiating.
Interment will be in Normalville Cemetery.
