Robert G. Peters

Robert G. Peters, 88 years, formerly of Masontown, Pennsylvania, died Thursday, November 30, 2006, in Villa Saint Francis, Olathe, Kansas, after an extended illness. Mr. Peters was born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, on January 24, 1918, the son of Henry Peters and Isabell (Luden) Peters.

He was a former member of All Saints Roman Catholic Church in Masontown and a member of The Holy Name Society.

He had worked as a coal miner for United States Steel Corporation and was a member of The United Mine Workers of America Local 6321.

On December 20, 1937, he married Anna Catherine (Hobart) Peters.

Mr. Peters was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Anna Catherine Peters, a son, Thomas Peters, and a grandson, Robert W. Peters.

He is survived by two daughters: Sister Roberta Peters, I.H.M., Bethlehem, Pa., and Rita Ann Peters Bulgaris, Gardner, Kansas; two sons: Robert E. Peters, Endwell, New York, and Jerome G. Peters, Melbourne, Florida; ten grandchildren: John Bulgaris, Kenosha, Wisconsin, Diana Harmon, Stevenson, Maryland, Cynthia Leahy, Central Square, New York, Susan O’Daniel, St. Charles, Missouri, Gregory Peters, Acworth, Georgia, Jennifer Peters, Olathe, Kansas, Sandra Peters, Rockledge, Florida, Deborah Sheley, Clayton, New York, Kristine Smith, Olathe, Kansas, and Michele Williams, Lake St. Louis, Missouri; and nineteen great-grandchildren.

Friends are invited to call at the JOHN S. MAYKUTH JR. FUNERAL HOME, corner of Church at 7 River Avenue, Masontown, Pa., on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. where a Prayer Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, December 5, at 9:30 a.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 10 a.m. in All Saints Roman Catholic Church, 101 West Church Avenue, Masontown, with the Rev. Father John M. Butler as Celebrant.

Interment will follow in Saint Agnes Cemetery, Masontown, Pa.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Retirement Fund, 2300 Adams Avenue, Scranton, PA 18509 would be appreciated.

Parish Wake Service will be held in the Funeral Home on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
