More donations arrive for Give-A-Christmas
Herald-Standard readers are showing their generosity this holiday season as they have donated $1,175 to the 2006 Give-A-Christmas campaign, bringing the total to $4,555. “Now that’s what I’m talking about – that’s so great to see everyone come together and help this great cause,’ said Sparkle, the Christmas star, who is mascot for the campaign.
The latest donations came from readers who live throughout the area, including Vanderbilt, Uniontown, Carmichaels, Masontown, Belle Vernon, Brownsville, Elco, Farmington, Markleysburg, Republic, New Salem and Hopwood.
“Thank you all for thinking of the campaign,’ said Sparkle. “Remember that we want to raise $40,000 for the Salvation Army in this area. All of the funds the campaign receives are sent to local Salvation Army units to use to help your neighbors.’
Sparkle received Christmas cards from Connie and Larry Myers of Markleysburg, Lewis and Ruby Christopher of Uniontown and Bob Newman of Uniontown.
The mail also brought some nice notes.

The deadline for donations is noon Dec. 22. The final total will be reported in the Christmas Eve edition of the newspaper.
Donations can be mailed to Give-A-Christmas, P.O. Box 1147, Uniontown 15401 or brought to the offices of the Herald-Standard in Connellsville and Uniontown weekdays during business hours. Sparkle cans also have been placed in 250 store locations in the Herald-Standard distribution area.
