Helen “Bub” (Bogozi) Shaffer
Helen “Bub” (Bogozi) Shaffer, 84, of Grays Landing, Pa., died peacefully on Tuesday, December 5, 2006, surrounded by her loving family, at the home of her son, Joseph, McClellandtown, Pa. She was born on August 20, 1922, in Martin, Pa., daughter of the late Joe and Elizabeth (Stanwick) Bogozi.
Her parents, husband, Michael P. “Mitchie” Shaffer, son-in-law, Eugene J. “Ching” Salopeck, brother, Joseph Bogozi, and sisters, Maggie Mogush, and Lizzy Phillips preceded her in death.
Helen was a member of All Saints Roman Catholic Church, and All Saints Confraternity of Christian Mothers. She was a fantastic homemaker and wonderful cook. She enjoyed making her home a special place of warmth and comfort for her beloved family and many friends.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Joseph P. Shaffer and wife, Joan of McClellandtown, Pa., William M. Shaffer and wife, Donna of Rices Landing, Pa., and Betty Salopeck and her loving friend, Joseph Garisek of Mentor, Ohio; grandchildren: Joseph P. Shaffer and wife, Cindy, Michele (Shaffer) Lundberg and husband, Michael, Janine (Shaffer) Pacelli and husband, Andre, Dianca Shaffer, Danielle Shaffer, Dean Salopeck and wife, Tammy, Scott Salopeck and wife, Allison, Todd Salopeck and wife, Vicky, and Stacy (Salopeck) Payne and husband, Deric; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Irene Minnick of Johnstown, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Agnes Bogozi of Masontown, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the HAKY FUNERAL HOME, INC., 515 North Main Street, Masontown, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Friday, December 8, 2006, until 9 a.m.
The Funeral Liturgy will follow at 9:30 a.m., at All Saints Roman Catholic Church, with the Rev. Father John M. Butler officiating.
Interment will be held at Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Leckrone, Pa.
The Parish Vigil Service will be held today at 3 p.m.
All Saints Confraternity of Christian Mothers will recite the Rosary today at 3:30 p.m.
