Uniontown woman faces charges
A 37-year-old Uniontown woman has been charged with forgery and criminal attempt after she allegedly altered a check to the Uniontown Fire Department in November. Lisa Ann Nypaver of 76 Bryer Ave. was charged Thursday before Magisterial District Judge Wendy Dennis and released on $10,000 unsecured bond.
According to state police trooper Thomas B. Broadwater, sometime in November Nypaver accepted a $10 check for two tickets to the Uniontown Fire Department’s annual multiple sclerosis toy bash from Christine Miller, no address given.
Police allege that after she received the check, Nypaver altered the amount to read $110 rather than $10.
The check was made payable to Nypaver’s husband, Myron Nypaver, chief of the Uniontown Fire Department.
After initially denying she altered the check, Lisa Ann Nypaver allegedly admitted to changing the total, police said.
During an interview with police Nov. 26, Lisa Nypaver apologized to police for her actions and told officers she did not know why she did it, according to police .
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for 11:15 a.m. Wednesday before Dennis.
