By The 2 min read

The generous readers of the Herald-Standard donated an additional $266.71 to the annual Give-A-Christmas campaign on Friday, bringing the total to $7,758.71. “Your kindness will help to make some families happier during this holiday season,” said the campaign’s mascot, Sparkle the Christmas star.

Friday’s contributions came from Fairchance, Lemont Furnace, Brownsville, Hiller, Uniontown and Wickhaven and included a note and a card.

“Dear Sparkle, Here is my gift for your Give-a-Christmas in memory of my parents, Russell and Edna Knox, and my husband, Lloyd Costello, and my son, Mark, who would have celebrated their birthdays this month,” wrote Gwendolyn Costello of Fairchance.

“This is also for my children and grandchildren. God bless you, and hope you get to your goal,” she wrote.

Sparkle smiled, at the card from Wil and Patty Campbell. The donated “in memory of Martin “Guffy” Gasparatz and Arthur Campbell. “
