Mahoney announces office locations
Constituents in the 51st Legislative District missing a place to go for citizen services will soon have new offices to visit when state Rep.-elect Timothy S. Mahoney opens local bureaus in Uniontown and Connellsville. Mahoney, who will replace outgoing state Rep. Larry Roberts, D-South Union, next year, said he is looking forward to serving the constituents as soon as he is able to open his offices. The exact date the doors will be open for service, however, remains to be seen. Mahoney said the state has employed outside contractors to install telephone and computer lines and he is waiting for the contractors to complete work on his offices.
If the election results from the Nov. 7 election stand, Mahoney will be one of 50 new state representatives, including 26 new Democrats and 24 new Republicans, to take office on Jan. 2. A couple of the 203 total seats in other areas are being contested for residency and other issues.
Officially, Roberts’ last day in office was Nov. 30 and his constituent offices at 31A Connellsville St., Uniontown, and 1402 Memorial Blvd., Connellsville, have been closed since that time. The telephone numbers to both offices have been disconnected with no forwarding information.
Mahoney said he plans to open his offices as soon as possible.
“I have a great staff assembled and I am confident that we will be able to provide outstanding constituent service,” Mahoney said. “My staff is currently working with the House Telecommunications Department and is in the final stages of getting the office wired with telephone, fax and computer equipment,” he said.
Mahoney’s offices will be located at 66 A Lebanon Ave. in Uniontown and at 1401 Memorial Blvd. in Connellsville Township. The phone number for the Uniontown office will be 724-438-6100.
Mahoney said he would release additional information when the opening date for the offices is set.
