Kirk K. Foster
Kirk K. Foster, 89, a lifelong resident of Uniontown, Pa., died Wednesday, December 13, 2006, in the Hillside Manor. He was born in Uniontown, Pa., April 14, 1917, son of the late Frank R. and Bessie Kemp Foster. A graduate of Union town Senior High School Class of 1935, Mr. Foster was a member of Saint Paul’s Evangelical Church, Uniontown, PA., where he served on the Church Council for 28 years and taught the Men’s Bible Class for 45 years.
Mr. Foster was a member of the Uniontown Rotary club, BPOE 370, Amvets Post 103, Isaac Walton League, (serving as secretary for 7 years), 5 year member of the Civil DIR Patrol, the Waynesburg, Pa. Flying Club, The Aero Club of Pittsburgh, P a. where he served on the board of governors for 8 years, a founding member of the National Air & Space Museum in the Smithsonian Institute, Washington, D.C. a founding member of the American Museum in Britain, a charter member of the USAF Museum of Dayton, Ohio, a founding member of the National Air & Space Society, The State Theatre Center for the Arts board member for 8 years, the Faypac Organizations, The Mon-Valley Expressway Association, Board of Directors Fayette County Historical Society, Fayette Fraternal Association, Circus Historical Society of America, Circus Fans of America, Circus Model Builders Association of America.
For many years he traveled South Western Pa. presenting audio-visual slide programs of the West Penn Trolley System, The Uniontown Speedway, local coal mines, and Fayette County, Uniontown, Pa. and Aeronautical and Circus subjects.
He entered the printing business in 1931, serving with the Little Printing Co. of Uniontown, Pa., for 22 years retiring in 1996. He also served as District Manager for the Baltimore Business Forms for over 20 years, and District Manager for Ennis Business Forms of Texas until 1981, and then Foster Business Forms of Uniontown, Pa., until 1996.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ursula McIntyre Foster in 1960, and his second wife Virginia Noble Foster in 1998. Mr.
Foster is survived by three children: Kay M. Crawford and husband, Ronald of Landisville, Pa., Edna L Slampak and husband, Ronald of Commerce Township Michigan, and Kirk S. Foster and wife, Bonnie of Hopwood, Pa.; a brother Robert P. Foster of Uniontown, Pa.; two step-children: Marcy Cimini of Elizabeth, Pa., and Noreen Wallner of Uniontown, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one niece, and one nephew.
The family will receive friends in the J. HARRY JOHNSTON FUNERAL HOME, 65 North Gallatin Ave., Uniontown, Pa., on Sunday, December 17, 2006, from noon to 4 p.m., and 7 to 9 p.m. Visitation will continue in Saint Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 71 North Gallatin Ave, Uniontown, Pa, on Monday, December 18, 2006, from 10 to 11 a.m., the hour of service with Reverend Paul N. Frank, Jr. officiating.
Interment in Christ Lutheran Cemetery, Chalk Hill, Pa with AMVETS Post 103 according Military Rites.
