Radical Cycles has opened at 1023 Pittsburgh Road, Route 51 north, suite 203-204, Uniontown.

Kirk Dewar of Uniontown, owner and operator, offers a variety of services, from mild to wild customs to all major accessories.

The shop offers a certified technician for all service needs, certified RevTech warranty and many everyday parts that are in stock. The shop also provides a number of accessories from Drag Specialties, Custom Chrome, Kuryakyn, V Twin, Ride Wright Wheels, Pro One, Arlen Ness, Vance & Hines, Hooker Headers, D&D Exhaust, Reinhart Exhaust, Cobra Exhaust, Joker and Metzeler Tires.

New shop offers sweet treats

Piece of Cake has opened at 30 Margaret St., Uniontown, offering a variety of baked goods and sweet treats.

Included are gourmet homemade cookie trays featuring a sampling of chocolate chip, kiss, M&M, Snickerdoodles, peanut butter, gobs, orange iced, fruit squares, Russian tea cakes, spritz, thumbprints, macaroons, cherry coconut bars, marble brownies, pecan tassies and oatmeal raisin.

Owner and operator Janet Nelson of Uniontown, has been baking since she was 9 years old. She said her philosophy is to offer excellent tasting desserts made from the freshest quality ingredients.

Cakes for special occasions include white, white almond, chocolate, bundt cakes with fillings such as lemon, chocolate or toffee, fruit filled cakes, banana pineapple cake with cream cheese frosting, flourless chocolate cake, carrot cake, a variety of cheesecakes, “Jason’s Almost Famous Chocolate Heaven Cake,’ mini-tarts and chocolate covered strawberries.

Koffler named sales executive

National City has announced that Raymond J. Koffler II has been named district sales executive in National City’s Community Banking network. He will be responsible for the leadership and development of all consumer and small business banking in the Fayette District. Koffler will oversee eight branches with more than 70 employees in Fayette County. Koffler has been with National City for two years, most recently serving as assistant vice president and branch manager in the Masontown market. He also served in retail management for nine years with Wells Fargo Financial in Ohio and Pennsylvania and as a sales executive for two years with Cameron Coca-Cola in the Uniontown market. Koffler earned a bachelor’s degree from Washington and Jefferson College. He is active in the Fayette County community, serving as a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Rotary International, and the Izaak Walton League of America.

Koffler is a native of Uniontown and is a graduate of the Uniontown Area High School. He resides in Uniontown with his wife, Kathleen, also a Uniontown native, and their sons, Zackary and Ethan.

Approximately 34 percent of the more than 1,200 bank branches located in Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri and Pennsylvania have become part of National City’s Community Banking Group.

Rafail joins video firm

Mark E. Rafail has accepted a new position as vice president of sales and business logistics at Kingfish Worldwide Inc., Uniontown. Kingfish Worldwide is a pioneer in the industry of video and audio production by providing premier, professional technology.

Rafail has 25 years of sales experience working for Vector Security Inc., Secure US Inc., Ptak’s Formalwear Inc. and Haynes Sportswear Inc. Rafail is an active member on many boards and committees in the Fayette County area. His position at Kingfish Worldwide Inc is effective immediately.

Kingfish Worldwide Inc. is also a video, audio and stage rental service. The company also provides DJs and videographers for all occasions in addition to being a professional video production company.

PIC names Sandzimier to Head Start

The Private Industry Council of Westmoreland/Fayette Inc. (PIC) has promoted Colette (Letty) Sandzimier to vice president of early childhood development, effective Dec. 11. She will have primary responsibility for overseeing the Head Start/Early Head Start programs, as well as supervising PIC’s newly implemented Responsible Fatherhood initiative in Fayette County.

In announcing this promotion, Tim Yurcisin, PIC president, said, “Letty has always been a huge part of our management team. With her professionalism and expertise in early education, she has been instrumental in the growth of Head Start since we took over as grantee in 1994. Her promotion will give PIC a larger presence in Fayette County as we work to help residents to develop and succeed.”

Sandzimier’s background includes numerous years of experience working with early education as both a teacher and an administrator. She joined PIC in 1994 as social services coordinator and quickly rose to supervisory and management positions.

Girod named senior manager

Opel accepts MRI position

Dawn Marie Opel, formerly of Uniontown and Berlin, Md., has recently accepted a position as MRI technologist within the Allegheny Health System in Pittsburgh.

She recently relocated to the greater Pittsburgh area in pursuit of her successful medical career, and to be closer to family and friends.

Opel was the site supervisor of Wide Open MRI of Berlin, Md., before she accepted this position in Pittsburgh.

Opel graduated from Wor-Wic College and has achieved several industry-recognized certifications.
