John C. “Jack” Duratz Jr.
John C. “Jack” Duratz Jr., age 61, of Piscataway, New Jersey, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2006, in the Barbara E. Chung Hospice, Edison, New Jersey. He was born on August 18, 1945, in Brownsville, Pennsylvania, the only child of John C. Duratz Sr. and Edith Newsom Duratz.
“Jack” resided in Bergen County, New Jersey, before moving to Piscataway 28 years ago.
Mr. Duratz served proudly in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era.
Later, he was a member of and Operating Engineer for the International Operating Engineers Local 68.
“Jack” also enjoyed playing golf and poker and trips to Atlantic City.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be sadly missed by his family and friends and all who knew him.
His parents preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Gerry Thompson Duratz; a son, James J. Duratz and his wife, Tara, of Piscataway, New Jersey; a daughter, Donna Duratz Iachini and her husband, Greg Iachini, of Somerset, New Jersey; and five grandchildren: Brendan, Nadia, Avery, Gavin and Lola.
Visitation hours will be on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the PISCATAWAY FUNERAL HOME, 18 Stelton Road, Piscataway, New Jersey 08854 (732-968-2828).
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 19, at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church, Piscataway.
Committal will be private.
