Thomas Wayne Friend
Thomas Wayne Friend, 82 years, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2006, and went to be with his Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. He was born March 26, 1924, in Friendsville, Maryland, the son of Harry Friend and Ruth Adele Friend.
Thomas was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps serving during World War II.
He was employed as a grinder with United States Steel Corporation’s Duquesne Works until his retirement.
Thomas was a member of the New Life Free Methodist Church in Smock, Pa., American Legion Post 423, Masontown, Pa., Franklin Grange 1169 and The Circle Club in Uniontown.
He was also a Life Member of the Amend Gun Club.
He was predeceased by his parents, his first wife, Evelyn M. Franks Friend, daughter, Dorothy Marie Friend, son, Thomas W. Friend, three sisters, four brothers, and a stepdaughter, Nancy M. Franks on November 24, 2006.
Surviving are his wife, Grace Isler Franks Friend; two sons: Harry O. Friend and his wife, Wendy, of McClellandtown, Pa., and Robert E. Friend and his fianc?e, Donna, of McClellandtown; stepdaughter, JoAnn Martin of Uniontown; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters: Helen Nervik, Betty Ream and Evelyn Fike all of Indiana state; and two brothers: Harry Gerald Friend and Richard Friend both of Myersdale, Pa.
The family will receive friends in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Monday, December 18, 2006, until 11 a.m., the hour of Service with the Rev. Dean Griffith officiating.
Interment will follow in Jacobs Lutheran Cemetery, German Township, Pa., where Military Rites will be accorded by the Faith-Gray-McArdle Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4584 and the American Legion Post 423.
