Mary Jean Sanders Axe
Mary Jean Sanders Axe, age 78, of Scottdale, Pa., and formerly of Dunbar, Pa., passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2006, in UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa. She was born December 15, 1927, in Red Lion, Pa., the daughter of Glenn Sanders and Naamah Brooks Sanders.
Mary Jean graduated from Red Lion High School.
Prior to her retirement, she worked as a Bank Teller for PNC Bank.
Mary Jean was a member and Past Worthy Marton of The Order of The Eastern Star 247 in Connellsville, Pa., and was also a member of The White Shrine of Jerusalem 42 in Uniontown, Pa.
Mary Jean was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Furnace Eugene Axe in 2000, a brother, Clifford Sanders, and three sisters, Ruth Ruby, Ethel Gross and Gladys Sanders.
Mary Jean is survived by her loving family: her son, Robert G. Axe of Dunbar, Pa.; her daughter, Dena A. Axe of Torrance, California; and her granddaughter, Lizabeth M. Axe Caton and her husband, Steve, of Prince Frederick, Maryland. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, December 19, 2006, in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 East Green Street, Connellsville, Pa., where a Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2006, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Phillip Sanders officiating.
A Committal Service and interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Diabetes Association in memory of Mary Jean Sanders Axe.
The Order of The Eastern Star 247 will conduct a service in the Funeral Home on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
The White Shrine of Jerusalem 42 will conduct a Service on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
