Herald-Standard readers continue to come through for Give-A-Christmas, donating $3,725 in the latest contributions. The new total stands at $19,820. “That’s fabulous!’ said Sparkle, the Christmas star. “We’re so happy that you’re thinking about us. Remember that we want to raise $40,000 to benefit the Salvation Army in your neighborhoods. So by helping Give-A-Christmas, you are helping your neighbors.’

The latest donations came from Uniontown, Hopwood, Fairchance, Masontown, California, Mill Run, Carmichaels, Farmington, Chalk Hill, Smithfield, Brownsville, Lemont Furnace, Connellsville and New Geneva. Two groups gave donations to be used throughout Fayette County.

Sparkle received many Christmas cards and these nice notes:

“Keep up the good work. Merry Christmas.’ Grace Chapel Presbyterian Church in High House.

Sparkle was also touched by this note from Mia and Dominic Hull of Uniontown: “In memory of Daddy Eric Hull who was killed in Baghdad. We love you Daddy and miss you. Merry Christmas to you, Sparkle.’

“We’re so moved by all these notes and sweet wishes,’ said Sparkle. “Thanks to all of you who participate. And if there are any readers out there who are considering making a donation, please do so today. The deadline is Friday at noon – only a couple of days away.’

The final total will be reported in the Christmas Eve edition of the newspaper.
