Theft reported

A Fayette City man has been charged with theft by deception for allegedly taking $700 to make repairs to a house in Brownsville then failing to perform the work.

According to the affidavit filed with the charge, Steve Crone, 46, of 221 Middle St., Fayette City, allegedly entered into an agreement with Angie Daley of 1315 Water St., Brownsville on Sept. 10, 2005. Crone was to make repairs to the gutters, soffit and facia, downspouts, windows and porch, including some painting. As of April 2006, no work had been done and Crone has not returned to the Brownsville address.

The charge has been filed before Magisterial District Judge Mike Defino.

Hit-and-run reported

State police said a driver backed into a vehicle driven by Melissa Shultz, 39, of Connellsville in the parking lot of Super K-Mart around 11:54 a.m. Saturday and drove off without providing any information.

Mailboxes damages

State police said the Old Braddock Road mailboxes of Robert Gibbs and Curtis Yauger were damaged between Saturday evening and Sunday morning.

State police said the driver of a green Chevrolet Blazer pumped $35.38 in gas at the Exxon on Pittsburgh Road and drove off without paying around 5:40 p.m. Saturday.

Lynn Ann Thomas, 33, of Lemont Furnace told state police that someone smashed the front windshield of her car while it was parked at Second Street Sunday morning.

Business burglarized

State police said Ewart’s Auto Salvage was broken into on Sunday and a radiator and two air conditioner components were stolen. Additionally, three windows and three vehicles were damaged, police said.

Crash reported

State police cited Kelly Lindsay, 35, of Vanderbilt for driving a vehicle at safe speeds following a two-vehicle accident on Vanderbilt Road around 2 p.m. Thursday. Police said a vehicle driven by Kelly Ahlborn, 27, of Connellsville slowed for traffic in front of it and Lindsay’s vehicle hit hers.

Man charged

State police charged Andrew Joseph Palya, 18, of Hopwood with criminal mischief after he allegedly used the front of his car to push a shopping cart into a vehicle owned by Andrew J. Errera, 56, of Uniontown at 12:22 a.m. Monday. The car was parked behind JC Penny in the Uniontown Mall lot. Police also cited three teenage passengers in Palya’s vehicle with disorderly conduct.

Jennifer Lynn Harvey, 34, of Connellsville told state police that her debit card was stolen on Friday and used to make $285.73 in purchases.

Burglary reported

Timothy Linn Griffith told state police that four guns and other items were taken from his Greenbrier Road home and a detached garage during the day Monday.

Lights damaged

Regis C. Murphy of Acme told state police that Christmas lights at his Bethann Road home were damaged between Sunday evening and Monday afternoon.

Fairchance

Dispute reported

State police said a harassment charge is pending against a 32-year-old Fairchance man who hit Crystal G. White, 29, in the ankle with a radio during a Sunday argument at a Union Street home.

Accident reported

State police are continuing to investigate a crash that seriously injured a teenage driver and his teenage passenger. Police did not identify either juvenile involved in the 9 a.m. Friday crash along a legislative route. Police said the car veered off the road, hit an embankment and flipped onto its roof. Both teens were taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va., according to authorities.

Accident reported

State police reported no injuries in a two-vehicle accident along Route 40 on Saturday evening. Police identified the drivers of the vehicles as Shryl A. Martin, 41, and Harold Stoots, 39. Leanne Wigging, 29, was a passenger in Stoots’ vehicle, according to police and Martin had an 8-year-old in her vehicle.

Accident reported

State police at Greensburg said a 45-year-old Connellsville man lost control of his car on Route 982 between 6 and 8 p.m. Friday and ran into the Fairview Cemetery. The man fled the scene, according to police.

State police at Greensburg reported that Elise Stinnger, 53, of Acme lost control of her car and drove off a legislative route and into a field on Saturday.

Car found

State police at Belle Vernon reported recovered a vehicle reported stolen to Cecil Township John Sowinski, 22, of McDonald in the lot of Hunters Ridge Apartments on Friday.

Woman arrested

State police at Belle Vernon charged Deborah L. Lint, 48, of Connellsville with driving under the influence of alcohol after a 2 p.m. crash along Route 819 on Sunday. Police said Lint tried to answer her cellular phone and drove off the road and into a ditch. Lint was not injured, police said.

Assault reported

State police said are looking for the man who assaulted Joe Lee Beatty, 34, in the parking lot of the Dairy Mart on Hopwood-Fairchance Road around 11 p.m. Dec. 13.

Theft reported

Pam Saylor, 45, of Ondrejko Road told state police that a three-dimensional animated deer lawn ornament was stolen from her yard Saturday morning.
