Michael D. Hanna
Michael D. Hanna, C.P.A., 86 of Whitehall, Pa., passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2006. Husband of the late Katherine M. (Plesh) Hanna, father of Michael D. (Janice A.) Hanna, Jr., Gerarda “Gerri” A. (William I. Patton) Hanna, Mary Patricia Hanna and Mark Peter Hanna, brother of Anna Boyle and George P. Hanna, grandfather of Ashley Elizabeth Hanna.
Mike was one of four members of the 1938 Masontown High School State Debating Championship Team, he also was quarterback and co-captain of the University of Pennsylvania 1941 Ivy League Championship Team. Mike served with the United States Army and landed on the Beaches of Normandy on D-Day +3 where he fought his way through France and was wounded in action and received the Purple Heart. Among many other business interests, Mike had a successful accounting and insurance practice during his 45-year career.
Friends will be received in the JOHN F. SLATER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood, Pa., on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., a funeral prayer will be held on Saturday morning at 9:15 a.m., and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the Saint Gabriel of The Sorrowful Virgin at 10 a.m.
