Robbery allegations advanced to court
CONNELLSVILLE – All charges filed against a Connellsville couple accused of robbing a local grocery store will be heard by a Fayette County judge following action taken Thursday at the magisterial district level. Seth James Annis, 20, and Lindsey Renea Weimer, 21, both of 917 Sycamore St., are charged with robbery, theft by unlawful taking receiving stolen property and criminal conspiracy in connection with the Aug. 28 robbery of the Pechin Express Store.
Prior to the scheduled preliminary hearing Weimer waived the charges filed against her by Connellsville police to the Fayette County Court of Common Pleas, while Annis opted to have the matter heard by Magisterial District Judge Ronald Haggerty.
Haggerty ruled that all charges be bound over to court.
According to the criminal complaint filed by police, Annis allegedly entered the North Pittsburgh Street store around 10:40 p.m. and asked an employee to redeem a winning lottery ticket.
The employee at the time, police said, had $237 in daily lottery proceeds in her hand, and as she put the money aside to wait on Annis, he allegedly reached across the counter and grabbed the money.
Police said the employee attempted to apprehend Annis, but he ran out of the store and got into a white van being driven by a female.
The store employees later identified Annis during a lineup. Weimer is his girlfriend, according to police.
Both remain incarcerated in Fayette County Prison.
