Man drowns

A 52-year-old Latrobe man was pronounced dead at the Latrobe Area Hospital after drowning in Loyalhanna Creek between 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. Saturday, according to state police.

Police said John B. Wetmore was found washed up on a large rock in the creek after a neighbor allegedly heard screams for help.

Members of Bridgeville Water Rescue removed Wetmore’s body from the creek and Wetmore was transported to the hospital at which time he was pronounced dead, according to police.

Police said the incident is under investigation and said it is still unknown how Wetmore got into the creek. Police did not say whether or not the death was suspicious.

Man shot

A Fayette County man was flown to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh after he allegedly shot himself while attempting to clean a handgun, state police said.

Police said John Wilkins Jr. of 178 Hammondville Road sustained injuries to his left hand and knee.

Wilkins was cleaning the gun when it discharged, police said, noting that the bullet struck Wilkins’ middle and ring fingers before lodging in his knee.

Woman missing

State police are looking for a 21-year-old Ohiopyle woman who was last seen Friday evening in the Wal-Mart parking lot.

Police said Tyla Dawn Glover was last seen wearing a white ski jacket, maroon sweater and jeans and was driving a bluish green 1995 Subaru Impreza with license plate number GJS2852.

Glover was reported missing by her mother, Denise Glover, police said, describing Glover as being 5 feet 7 inches tall and 120 pounds with brown eyes and shoulder-length blonde hair.

Anyone with information about Glover’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Uniontown state police barracks at 724-439-7111.

Brownsville

Woman to be charged

State police said a 36-year-old Brownsville woman will be charged with simple assault after she allegedly used a baseball bat to smash the windows out of a vehicle belonging to Leonard Jackson of Brownsville before hitting Jackson with the bat.

Police said the incident occurred at 2:10 a.m. Saturday in South Hills Terrace and that charges against the woman will be filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge Mike Defino.

Boy cited

State police said a 15-year-old boy was cited for harassment after he was allegedly involved in an altercation with an 11-year-old boy at 1 p.m. Saturday at a Polecat Hollow Road residence.

Brownsville

Cigarettes stolen

Several packs of cigarettes were stolen from the Eckerd Pharmacy located on Market Street, state police said, noting that the theft occurred at 3:45 a.m. Saturday.

Brownsville

Man injured

State police said Brian Kozy, 23, of Masontown was taken by ambulance to Uniontown Hospital after vehicles driven by Kozy and Anne Pore, 80, of Brownsville crashed at the intersection of Route 40 and Fifth Street at 5:10 p.m. Friday. Police said Kozy sustained minor injuries to his back and neck. Pore was not injured, police said.

Woman injured

State police said 44-year-old Debbie Breakiron sustained moderate injuries when vehicles driven by Benjamin Breakiron Jr., 46, and Grace Ann Ritenour, 18, crashed near Swinkhill Road at 2:20 p.m. Saturday. Police said Debbie Breakiron was a passenger in Benjamin Breakiron’s vehicle. Ritenour sustained minor injuries, police said, noting that Benjamin Breakiron was not injured.

Two injured

Todd Sager, 20, and Richard Daniels, 60, both sustained moderate injuries when their vehicles crashed on Route 201 at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, state police said.

North Union Twp.

Items stolen

John Anthony Palya, 45, of Uniontown told state police a cell phone and two carpet remnant books were stolen out of his vehicle that had been parked on North Gallatin Avenue between 7 p.m. Saturday and 11:30 a.m. Sunday, police reported.

Connellsville

Husband cited

Gregg William Lowman of Connellsville was cited for harassment after he allegedly slapped his wife, Berniece Renae Lowman of Connellsville, across the face during an altercation that occurred at the couple’s 1207 Lawn Ave. residence at 11 a.m. Sunday, state police said.

Hit and run

State police said vehicles driven by Michael Pinardi, 25, of Allison and an unidentified person crashed on Hemlock Road at 9 p.m. Sunday. Police said the unidentified person fled the scene in his or her vehicle following the crash.

Uniontown

Woman cited

City police said Toni Lynn Nicklo of Uniontown was cited for public drunkenness after an officer spotted her walking down Connellsville Street with a beer at 8:49 a.m. Saturday.
