Gene Oktela, 67, of Ravenna, passed away on Monday, December 25, 2006, in Robinson Memorial Hospital. He was born on September 22, 1939, in Morgantown, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Albert and Kathryn Oktela.

He served in the U.S. Army and retired as General Manager from U-Haul after 20 years of service. He attended Saint Joan of Arc in Streetsboro.

Surviving is his wife of 36 years, Carol (Lundy) Oktela, of Ravenna; children: Anthony (Janee) Oktela, of Barberton, and Heather (Jeff) Turney, of Ravenna; sisters: Patty Neil, of Pennsylvania, and Betty (Michael) Tirpak, of Ravenna; brother, Mickey (Jeannie) Oktela, of Texas; aunt, Elizabeth Oktela, of Pennsylvania; sisters-in-law: Cathy (Earl) Walker, of Ravenna, Beverly(Raymond) Whitmore, of Pinehurst, North Carolina, and Margaret Edgell, of Stow; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association, Ohio Valley Affiliate, P.O. Box 634445, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45263.
