John M. Yonker Sr.
John M. Yonker Sr., age 87, of Uniontown, Pa., died Thursday, June 29, 2006, in the Uniontown Hospital. He was born April 4, 1919, in Smock, Pa., to James and Lillian Younker.
John worked as a coal miner for over 45 years and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America.
He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II who served in the European Theatre of Operations.
His parents and five sisters, Elsie Daniero, Betty Guseman, Ida Yonker, Ruth Yonker and Dorothy Yonker, preceded him in death.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Krynock Yonker; a son, John M. Yonker Jr. and his wife, Mary, of Uniontown and their children, Dr. Jason M. Yonker and Erika L. Yonker Phillips; a daughter, Linda Nemchik and her husband, John, and their sons, John M. Nemchik and Devin A. Nemchik, all of Beaver, Pa.; and a sister, Jane Laughery of Smock, Pa.; and the following special nieces and nephews: Pam Rouse, Marlene Stewart, Betty Jane Mrozek, Sonny Laughery and Kimmon Guseman.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC., 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, Pa., where the family received friends in the funeral home on Sunday from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.
Visitation will continue in the Funeral Home today (Monday, July 3) from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. followed by a Celebration of his Life at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William D. Rodahaver officiating.
Interment will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Smock, Pa.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 47 will conduct Military Rites at graveside.
