Perry F. “Bud” Guthrie, 77, of Big Six Road, Smithfield, Pa., died Saturday, July 1, 2006, in the Uniontown Hospital, Uniontown, Pa. He was born November 28, 1928, in Fairchance, Pa., son of James E. Guthrie and Ida Mae Tate Guthrie.

He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict who served in the United States Army.

Perry was a member of the United Mine Workers of America.

He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and working on his family farm.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers, sister, and son-in-law.

Surviving are his loving wife of 53 years, Shirley Riggen Guthrie; seven children: Terry Welch and her husband Skip, High House, Pa., Perry Guthrie Jr. “Bruce” and his wife Donna, Smithfield, Pa., Bonnie Guthrie, Smithfield, Pa., Cathy Kayla and her husband Frank, York Run, Pa., Tim Guthrie and his special friend April, Uniontown, Pa., Janet Guthrie and her special friend Richard, Uniontown, Pa., and Buddy A. Guthrie, Alexandria, Virginia; a grandson who was raised by Perry and Shirley, Tim Guthrie Jr.; 10 additional grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, James Guthrie and his wife Carol, Fairchance, Pa.; many nieces and nephews; and many close special friends who visited him at home and enjoyed wonderful fellowship with him.

The family will receive friends in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday, July 5, until 11 a.m., the hour of Service with the Rev. James B. Jobes officiating.

Interment will follow in Mount Moriah Baptist Cemetery, Smithfield, Pa., where Military Rites will be accorded at graveside.
