Leo Mathews, 86, of Clarksville, died Tuesday, July 4, 2006, in the Southwest Regional Medical Center, Waynesburg. Mr. Mathews served in the United States Army during World War II in the 26th infantry division, he was a retired coal miner from Republic Steel’s Clyde Mine.

Surviving are his wife, Laura Lee Lehtonen; three daughters: Darlene Koppa and her husband, Pete of Lakewood, Ohio, Lauretta Darby and husband, John of Canonsburg and Sherry Hetrick and husband, Wilbur of Clarksville; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Jim Mathews of Oakwood, Ohio, Frank Mathews of Maple Heights, Ohio, Bill Mathews of Cleveland, Ohio; two sisters: Irene Kloss of Cuyahoga Hts., Ohio and Marceille Thomas of Cleveland, Ohio.

Friends will be received from 3 to 9 p.m., Thursday in the Behm Funeral Homes, Inc., 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, where services will be held on Friday, July 7 at 1 p.m.
