Council hears complaints about road barricade

By Steve Ferris 1 min read

Uniontown City Council heard a complaint Thursday that the temporary yellow road horses used to block Jacquette Place are eyesores. Robin Semans called the roadblocks “garish yellow barricades” and asked council to find something more appealing to block the road with.

Mayor James Sileo said the temporary roadblock is set up every summer as a precaution to prevent traffic from driving down the steep road into Bailey Park and endangering children.

Semans asked council to use something more pleasant looking that the yellow barricades if the road has to be blocked every summer.

Councilman Giachetti said he is looking into obtaining flowerpots to spruce up the appearance of the roadblock.

In unrelated business, Sileo said the city has begun notifying property owners who don’t cut their grass that will be cited if they don’t maintain their lawns.
