Vacancy announced The Fayette County Board of Commissioners is announcing a vacancy on the Fayette County Health Center Authority board.

According to Commission Chairwoman Angela M. Zimmerlink, a member of the health center board is resigning, effective Aug. 31, for a term set to expire in January 2007. Anyone appointed to the unexpired term also may seek reappointment in January 2007 to serve a full five-year term.

The authority board meets at 5:15 p.m. the second Wednesday of every other month in Uniontown. The authority is responsible to oversee the property management functions of the Fayette County Health Center.

Street fair set

St. Rita’s Church will hold its annual street fair beginning Thursday and continuing through Saturday, from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m., at the church parking lot, located at South First Street, Connellsville. Come enjoy ethnic food, bingo, games of chance and prizes.

Workshop planned

The American Red Cross, Fayette branch office, will hold an emergency planning workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday at its office at 108 Morgantown St. in Uniontown.

The workshop is geared to facility planning staff and management. It is designed to teach participants the steps necessary to complete a comprehensive disaster plan through presentations and small group activities. Those attending will receive an emergency planning guide and resource compact disc. They also will receive a certificate of participation.

Road to close

The state Department of Transportation District 12 said that Route 1060 (Pritts Distillery Road), between Route 1054 (Indian Head Road) and about 1,300 feet past Snow Drift Lane in Saltlick Township, will be closed beginning Thursday. The closure is expected to last one day.

The closure will be in place while paving is done.

PennDOT also said that Route 1003 (Millerstown Road), between 1054 (Indian Head Road) and approximately 170 feet passed Harris Road in Saltlick Township, will be closed beginning Friday. The closure is expected to last one day for paving operations.

Traffic at borth locations will be controlled by flagmen. The contractor for both projects is New Enterprise of New Enterprise, Pa.
