James W. “Bill” Richie
James W. “Bill” Richie, 80, of Garards Fort, Pa., passed away Monday, July 10, 2006, in the Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown. W.Va. Born in Garards Fort on July 21, 1925, he was a son of the late Victor and Freda Robinson Richie. He was a United States Army Air Corps veteran of WWII and a coal miner retired from the Robena Mine. Bill was a member of the U.M.W.A., the American Legion, Post 400 in Carmichaels, Pa., and had formerly attended the John Corbley Baptist Church in Garards Fort.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Blanche Depitris and Dorothy Henrich.
His son, James R. “Rick” Richie of Dilliner survives along with one granddaughter, Sherri Richie of Dawsonville, Georgia; three great-grandchildren; Joey and Nicole Lipovich, and Robert Mallory; two step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Victor Carlton Richie of Whitesboro, Texas.
Friends will be received in the RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, Point Marion, today from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m., and Friday, July 14, until 3:00 p.m., the hour of service, with the Rev. Donald E. Gillenwater officiating.
Interment follows in Garards Fort Cemetery.
