Car show part of firemen’s convention
CONNELLSVILLE – Those with classic or custom cars or motorcycles who would like to display their showpieces are encouraged to take part in the July 21 car show being held in conjunction with the 68th Annual Fayette County Firemen’s Association convention. Mike Gebe, a member of New Haven Hose Volunteer Fire Co. and event chairman, said that individuals and organizations are welcome to join the convention host along South 7th Street, where all activities will be held for the July 16-22 convention.
“Classic cars bring back a lot of memories,” said Gebe. “People really enjoy looking at the cars and to socialize with the owners.”
The Harley Owner Group Chapter 1653, based in Uniontown, also plans to participate in the show.
New Haven member Bruce Jaynes said he plans to display his 1973 Olds Delta 88 convertible during the Friday night event.
After years of searching for the “right car at the right price,” the classic Oldsmobile was found.
“I’ve always had an interest in convertibles and this was a great car,” he said.
While the car is kept under wraps during the winter months, on summer Sunday afternoons, the family often gathers together for an outing to the mountains.
“It’s a lot of fun,” he said.
The first 150 to register for the show, said Gebe, will receive a dash plaque. Those attending the event will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite car or motorcycle.
The top three vote-getters in each category will receive a trophy.
The event begins at 6 p.m. and there is no entrance fee.
Other activities taking place in conjunction with the convention include:
