Edward J. Mozden

Edward J. Mozden, 81, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2006, in the Uniontown Hospital. He was born on April 10, 1925, in Oliver, Pa., the son of the late John and Kathryn Svec Mozden.

Mr. Mozden was a member of The Great Bethel Baptist Church in Uniontown.

He worked as a maintenance worker for 40 years at Robena Mine and retired from Consol as a Maintenance Foreman and was a veteran of World War II serving with the United States Navy as an Electrician’s Mate First Class.

He was predeceased by one brother and seven sisters: Jennie Sitnick, Violet Petrus, Kathryn Rabatin, Helen Sible, Dorothy Sheba, Rose Keighley, Stella Petrush and Bernard Mozden.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Ruth E. Livengood Mozden; three children: Linda Turchin and her husband, Gene of Fairmont, W.Va., Thomas Mozden and his wife, Sandra of Uniontown, Pa. and Sue Ellen Mozden at home; four grandchildren: Erik and Rebecca Turchin, Tommy and Samantha Mozden; one sister, Josephine Conchilla of Oliver, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME, 680 CHERRY TREE LANE, UNIONTOWN, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. when a funeral service will be held with the Rev. Dr. Neil Hoppe officiating.

Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery where full Military Rites will be accorded by the Hopwood AMVETS Post 103, Hopwood, Pa.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in Mr. Mozden’s name to the Great Bethel Baptist Church, 47 West Fayette Street, Uniontown, Pa.
