Woman arraigned in forgery case
CONNELLSVILLE – A Connellsville woman accused of stealing a checkbook belonging to another individual and then forging the owner’s signature on several checks was arraigned Thursday. Kimberly Monosky, 38, of 73 Gibson Terrace is charged by the Connellsville police department with 12 counts of forgery and theft by deception and a single count of receiving stolen property.
According to the criminal complaint, Monosky, while employed part-time at the residence of Patricia Berkheimer, allegedly removed 50 checks from the home and then made 12 checks payable to her and cashed them at various locations.
Police said that nine of the checks, totaling $945, were allegedly cashed by Monosky at the Glass Cap Federal Credit Union in South Connellsville. Three checks, totaling $275, were cashed at PNC Bank in Connellsville.
Police said that the checks were cashed between June 5 and June 28.
Monosky, said police, allegedly admitted to taking the checks when interviewed by investigating officers.
Monosky was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Ronald Haggerty and released on her own recognizance.
A July 20 preliminary hearing was scheduled in the matter.
