Court briefs
Vanderbilt man convicted David E. Lint, 51, of 476 Flatwoods Road, Vanderbilt, was convicted of three counts each of theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and conspiracy to commit each this week in Fayette County Court.
State police charged that Lint and two other men stole two personal watercrafts and the trailer they were hauled in from Tammy Mader’s home at 1407 Buttermore Road in Connellsville Township around 1 a.m. May 21, 2002.
The personal watercrafts each were valued at $7,000 and the trailer was valued at $1,000, according to court records.
Lint will be sentenced at a later date.
Cocaine conviction
A Fayette County jury this week convicted Gerard James Dorundo, 47, of Greensburg of possession, possession with the intent to deliver and delivery of 1.2 grams of cocaine.
Dorundo, of 304 Harrison Ave., sold the drug to a confidential informant in the parking lot of the Cactus Lounge on Route 51 in Perryopolis on Sept. 16, 2002, according to court documents.
Dorundo will be sentenced at a later date.
Woman acquitted
A Uniontown woman was acquitted of simple assault following a trial this week in Fayette County Court.
Uniontown police alleged that Kathryn Mansberry, 44, of 6 Varndell St. hit Charles Price Jr. in the head with a tire iron at the intersection of Collins Avenue and Clark Street around 2:40 p.m. July 29, 2005.
Man acquitted
Douglas Williams, 20, of 140 W. Church St., Mount Pleasant, was acquitted of theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief this week in Fayette County Court. State police had alleged that Williams took a green Neon owned by Jennifer Dawn Eiford from her Clinton Road home in Saltlick Township between the evening of Aug. 25 and the early morning of Aug. 26, 2005.
Acquitted of theft
This week, Fayette County jurors acquitted Sandra Eden Cole, 32, of 6 N. Russ St. in Masontown of theft of property lost or mislaid.
State police alleged that Cole stole $280 from a change purse that Tammy Ann Shuman left on a bench in the lobby of the Lemont Furnace police barracks. The alleged theft was caught on tape, according to court documents.
Convicted for robberies
Ronald Dale Malone Sr. was convicted this week in Fayette County Court of all charges related to two July 6, 2005, robberies in the Republic area of Redstone Township.
Jurors convicted Malone, 46, of Toledo, Ohio, of two counts each of criminal conspiracy to commit robbery, criminal conspiracy to commit theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property. He was convicted of one count of access device fraud.
Court records indicated that Malone came to Leroy Larry Camino’s Park Street home about 2:25 a.m. and asked to use the phone. Once inside, police said Malone conspired to rob Camino of $3 and his wallet.
Around 5:30 a.m., Malone was near Barbara Lockhart’s home on Steel Street as she was leaving for work. Lockhart was pushed down and her purse stolen, police said. She had $4,800 inside.
Malone will be sentenced at a later date.
Acquitted in arson case
Robert Playford Lilley Jr., 23, of 19 Fort Mason Village, Masontown, was acquitted of theft by unlawful taking, arson and two counts of criminal mischief this week in Fayette County Court.
State police alleged that Lilley stole a Dodge Dakota truck from Joe’s Auto Body in Redstone Township around 2 a.m. July 28, 2004, and fled by driving through a fence.
Police found the truck burned in a Luzerne Township field a short time later.
Dunbar man acquitted
A Dunbar man was acquitted of attempted theft this week in Fayette County Court.
State police alleged that Kirk D. Wingrove, 49, of 399 Pechin Road was trying to steal aluminum chairs from the Dunbar-Ohiopyle Road home of Ora Lee Murphy on the evening of June 25, 2005.
