Alberta Waggett Whetsel
Alberta Waggett Whetsel, 96, of Uniontown, Pa., and formerly of Nelson Road, Farmington, Pa., passed away peacefully Monday, July 17, 2006, in the home of her daughter, Janet Wilson. She was born May 19, 1910, in Keisterville, Pa., the daughter of the late John and Anna Belle Waggett.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth C. Whetsel, in 1978, and the following brothers, Albert, Aaron, Frank, William, and George, and sisters, Jennie Hoyack and Elizabeth Robbins.
Alberta was a 1928 graduate of Uniontown High School, was a member of Mount Washington Presbyterian Church and the Presbyterian Women Society, a member of the Christian Women’s Association, and a Charter Member of the Ellen Rebekah Lodge 233 Waltersburg, Pa., where she was a past Noble Grand and held the office of secretary for many years. Alberta lived for her family, her friends and her church. She loved bird watching from her mountain home where she resided for over 36 years.
She is survived by her two daughters: Janet Wilson and husband, Ken, with whom she made her home, and Mildred Vail, all of Uniontown; three granddaughters: Cindy Veno and husband, Joseph and Linda Adams and husband, Larry all of Uniontown, and Kathy Guderian and husband, Bryan of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and five great-granddaughters: Leigh Veno of New Castle, Pa., Erin Hilst of Peoria, Illinois, and Lauren, Kristen and Megan Guderian of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in DEARTH FUNERAL HOME, New Salem, Pa., Wednesday, July 19, 2006, from 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday, July 20, 2006, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Friday, July 21, 2006, until 11 a.m., the hour of service, with Rev. William G. Morris officiating.
Interment will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.
Ellen Rebekah Lodge 233 will conduct services in the funeral home on Thursday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
