Pittsburgh Area man indicted
A 42-year-old Brownsville man was indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on a charge of bank burglary and a charge of bank larceny in court Tuesday.
Nicholas Panos, of 100 High St. Apt. 603, was indicted on charges that he stole a computer from the Mon Marine Federal Credit in Brownsville on Jan. 23, according to U.S. Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan.
The law provides a maximum sentence of 21 years in prison for the charges and $350,000 in fines, but Buchanan’s office noted the actual sentence imposed is based on the seriousness of the offense and prior criminal history.
Uniontown
Man apprehended
Uniontown police apprehended an unidentified man after he fled on city streets following an argument with his unidentified girlfriend Tuesday.
Detective Donald “Butch” Gmitter responded to the call and tracked the man into an alley off Walnut Street.
Gmitter, Chief Kyle W. Sneddon and Sgt. Fred Balsley found a .22-caliber pistol and dozens of bullets for the gun in the weeds in the alley.
Police took the man into custody for questioning.
No further information, including possible charges against the man, was available as of press time.

Wall damaged
Robert Hall of Uniontown told state police that a vehicle damaged a concrete wall at his 14 Devan Ave. residence at 3:42 p.m. Sunday, police said.
Belle Vernon
Man charged
David A. Ganoe, 46, of 315 Wood St., Belle Vernon, was charged before Magisterial District Judge Robert Breakiron with terroristic threats, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness after an incident with a 17-year-old juvenile at his residence at 6:50 p.m. Saturday. Ganoe was placed in the Fayette County Prison on $15,000 straight cash bond, police said.

Card stolen
State police said a credit card and cellular phone owned by David Haberman of Fayette City were stolen from his vehicle while it was parked on Lowers Street between 9 p.m. Friday and 4 a.m. Saturday.

Argument reported
Deborah Bochniarz of Grindstone told state police that a woman she knows repeatedly harassed her at a location on Braznell Concrete Road at 7 p.m. Sunday, police said.
California
Three charged
California police said Bernard Kimple, 56, of California was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol and possession of drug paraphernalia after a routine traffic stop on Wood Street in California. Additionally, two passengers in Kimple’s car, Joyce Teich, 53, of California and Deborah Jindra, 51, of Charleroi, each were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia following the incident, which occurred sometime last week, police said.

Hit-and-run reported
Katherine Bartolotta of Merrittstown told state police that her vehicle was damaged by another vehicle which then fled the scene sometime Sunday, police said.
Brownsville
Cars vandalized
Brownsville police Monday found six vehicles on Woodward and Howard streets that had been scratched overnight.
A 2006 Chevy Impala owned by Brenda Walters was scratched along the driver’s side and the hood while parked in the 400 block of Woodward.
Two vehicles owned by Shirley Silbaugh of Smock were scratched while they were parked in the 400 block of Woodward. Damaged were a 2004 Chevrolet truck and a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier. Both were scratched from end to end.
Barry Kelly told police his 2004 Dodge Caravan was scratched near the passenger side door handle and on the rear quarter panel while it was parked in the 600 block of Howard Street.
Westley Knox said his two vehicles were also scratched back to front sometime between 1 a.m. and 6:55 a.m. Monday.
The incidents remain under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Brownsville police.

Vehicle damaged
Rachel Costa of Clarksville told state police that vandals damaged her vehicle while it was parked on Market Street between 6 p.m. July 6 and 10 p.m. July 10, police said.

Men charged
State police said Phillip Stanger and Brenton Bastian, both of Clarksville, were charged with disorderly conduct after they were involved in a fight at Teagarden Homes in Clarksville at 6:40 p.m. July 12. Additionally, Stanger was cited for criminal mischief after he damaged Bastian’s car with a brick during the altercation, police said.

Wire stolen
State police said several feet of wire was stolen from S&S Communications on Route 188 between 5:30 p.m. July 10 and 6 a.m. July 11.

Disturbance reported
A 52-year-old Carmichaels’ woman is suspected of creating a public disturbance at a location on Route 21 at 8 a.m. July 12, state police said.

Charges pending
State police said charges are pending against a 46-year-old Mount Morris man who was found intoxicated on Route 2014 in Greensboro at 11:05 p.m. July 12.

Man cited
State police said David Matthew Whipkey, 33, of Carmichaels was cited for criminal mischief and disorderly conduct after he damaged a vehicle owned by Michelle Berry, 21, of Masontown during an argument at 103 E. South St. at 3:55 a.m. Thursday.

Cigarettes stolen
State police said they are looking for a suspect who broke a glass door and stole cigarettes from the Dairy Mart on Hopwood-Fairchance Road at 4:40 a.m. Thursday.

Cars collide
Vehicles driven by Johnny Lipscomb of Kingwood, W.Va., and Larry Wilson of Mapletown collided on Route 2010 at 3:48 p.m. July 11, state police said.

Hood stolen
Kevin Smith of Nineveh told state police that a fiberglass hood on his car was stolen while it was parked at a Franklin Township business sometime July 11 or July 12, state police said.

Statues stolen
State police said vandals stole several concrete lawn ornaments owned by Richard Machesky of Waynesburg from his Lippincott Road home between midnight July 12 and 9 a.m. Saturday.
Masontown
Thefts reported
Masontown police said a thin, muscular black man with a small ponytail is suspected in two recent thefts in the borough. Police said the man stole a wallet owned by John Scott of Graysville from his vehicle while it was parked on Green Lane Friday. Later Friday, police said the same man stole a purse owned by Dorothy LaRose of Masontown from her as she walked on East Church Avenue.

Henry Stiles III, 24, of Waynesburg was charged with public drunkenness after he was found intoxicated on Water Dam Road at 12:05 a.m. Sunday.
Carmichaels
Cars collide
State police said vehicles driven by Alex Simpson and John Dotts, both of Waynesburg, collided at the intersection of Route 88 and Route 21 at 4:14 p.m. Sunday. Both drivers, along with four passengers in Dotts’ vehicle were injured in the crash, police said.

Cash stolen
State police said about $2,500 was stolen from the Shoe Show in Greene Plaza. Thieves smashed a window of the building between 5 p.m. Sunday and 9:20 a.m. Monday.
