Wesley C. Hines, 86, of Fayette City died Tuesday, July 18, 2006, in his home. He was born December 31, 1919, in Denbo, Pa., son of the late Clyde and Isabelle Kennedy Hines. Protestant by faith, he was a member of the Brightwell Daugherty American Legion Post 484 and the D.A.V. Mr. Hines had resided in Fayette City for the past 58 years and retired in 1981 from the steam plant at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Company, Monessen Plant. A veteran of World War II, he served with the 82nd Airborne Division and was awarded a Purple Heart and 2 Oak Leaf Clusters.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Laura Harris Hines; two daughters and one son-in-law: Linda and Richard Kossol of Eugene, Oregon and Patricia Herrington of Fayette City, family friend, John Kunsa of Belle Vernon; two sisters: Lois Burrows of Belle Vernon and Joyce Vernet of Speers; two brothers: Loren Schoenholtz of South Park and Joe Ed Schoenholtz of New Eagle; four grandchildren: Kimberly Miller and husband, Wade of Atlanta, Ga., Joel Kossol of Seattle, Wash., Kristie Zahn and husband, John of Houston, Texas, and Jeanette Larson and husband, Kevin of Eugene, Oregon; and two great-grandchildren: Jacob Zahn and Beatrice Miller.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Lavella Galiotto and one brother, Roy Schoenholtz.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, INC., AND CREMATION SERVICE, 700 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon. Funeral services will be in the funeral home on Friday at 11:30 a.m., with Rev. Jack Elder officiating.

Interment, with military honors, will follow in Mount Auburn Cemetery. The members of American Legion Post 484 will meet in the funeral home to hold services on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
