Sarah Catherine Dean Dye
Sarah Catherine Dean Dye, 96, of McClellandtown, Pa., died Sunday July 16, 2006, in the Horizon Personal Care Home, Fairchance, Pa. She was born September 2, 1909, in McClellandtown a daughter of the late Marshall C. Dean and Mina D. Hostetler Dean.
Also preceded in death were her husband, Roy P. Dye, a son, Roy E. Dye, December 8, 2004, an infant son and a brother, Clinton Dean.
Mrs. Dye graduated from German Township High in 1928, and married Roy P. Dye in 1928. They were married for 51 years. She was a lifelong member of the McClellandtown Presbyterian Church where she served as organist, pianist, elder and Sunday School teacher. She loved music and used her gift and talents as an organist/pianist to play for many weddings and funerals for over 40 years at Church Hill Presbyterian Church. Catherine was a member of Margaret E. Caven Shrine 42 of Pennsylvania, White Shrine of Jerusalem, Uniontown Chapter 263, and Order of Eastern Star.
Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Barbara A. Spaw Dye; three grandchildren: Thomas R. Dye and his wife, Beth of Whitehall, Pa., Sharon Rankin and her husband, Anthony of Shavertown, Pa., and Daniel E. Dye and his wife, Anna of Jessup, Md.; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a sister-in-law, Pauline Dean and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the JERONE W. SHELL FUNERAL HOME, 164 South Mount Vernon Avenue, Uniontown, Pa., on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday in the Church Hill Presbyterian Church McClellandtown, Pa., from noon to 2 p.m., when services will be held with the Rev. William D. Rodahaver officiating.
Interment will follow in Church Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donation may be made to Albert Gallatin Home Care and Hospice, 20 Highland Park Drive, Uniontown, Pa., 15401.
White Shrine of Jerusalem will hold services Friday at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
