French exchange students visit Uniontown

1 min read

A group of eight French students recently visited Uniontown City Hall and the city’s fire station during their monthlong stay in Fayette County to learn about American culture and the English language. Ranging in age from 14 to 18, the students have been staying with host families through a program operated by the nonprofit Minnesota-based Nacel Open Door. Uniontown Mayor James Sileo and Councilman Bob Cerjanec talk to the students about local government. Mary Barcheck is the students’ English teacher and Tom Walls is hosting one the students. Walls and his wife, Lea Walls, of South Union Township have been Nacel hosts since 1991.
