Rudolph C. “Rudy” Malinsky
Rudolph C. “Rudy” Malinsky, age 75, of 217 Sangston Avenue, Masontown, Pa., passed away peacefully on Friday, July 21, 2006, in his home. He was born on January 24, 1931, in Martin, Fayette County, Pa., the son of Charles Malinsky and Anna (Russin) Malinsky.
“Rudy” was a lifelong member and devoted parishioner of Saint Mary’s (Our Lady of Perpetual Help) Roman Catholic Church in Leckrone, Pa., where he served as an usher, a member of the Finance Council, The Holy Name Society, a member of the Cemetery Committee and a volunteer for fundraising events. He also served his parish by acting as Chairman for many various events and cared for the parish grounds in many capacities.
He was also a member of the Fort Mason American Legion Post 423.
A graduate of Mapletown High School, Class of 1949, Rudy began working for Duquesne Light Corporation until he enlisted in the United States Navy.
During the Korean War, he served aboard the U.S.S. Hornet. When he was discharged in 1954, he then earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Waynesburg College while working at the Warwick Coal Mine.
He retired as a Superintendent for Duquesne Light’s Warwick Mine in 1989.
For his kindness, tireless work for his church and generosity toward others, Rudy was honored in 2004 for “Outstanding Humanitarianism by the Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Greensburg” and received The Communities of Salt and Light Award.
A quiet and humble gentleman, a faithful servant of God, and an exceptional husband, father and grandfather, he will be deeply missed by those whose lives he touched!
“Rudy” was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Irene (Hudik) Malinsky in 1973, two infant sons, and three brothers, Joseph Malinsky, Robert Malinsky and Carl Malinsky.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 30 years, Sue Ann (Martin) Malinsky; daughter, Janet Malinsky, and son, Michael Malinsky and his wife, Julie, all of Pittsburgh, Pa.; two granddaughters: Valerie Malinsky and Sarah Grace Malinsky; two sisters: Mary Matejcik and her husband, Steve, of Maple Heights, Ohio, and Rose Malinsky Ziots of Aurora, Ohio; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Friends will be received in the HAKY FUNERAL HOME, 515 NORTH MAIN STREET, MASONTOWN, Pa., today (Monday, July 24, 2006) until 9:30 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.
A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 10 a.m. in Saint Mary (Our Lady of Perpetual Help) Roman Catholic Church, Leckrone, with the Rev. Father Andrew M. Kawecki as Celebrant.
Interment will be follow in Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Leckrone, where Military Honors will be accorded by the Faith-Gray-McArdle Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4584 and the Fort Mason American Legion Post 423.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saint Mary (Our Lady of Perpetual Help) Roman Catholic Church, Leckrone, PA 15454 or the American Cancer Society.
Visitation was also held on Sunday from 2 to 9 p.m.
